It’s Saturday and that means it’s news time. Lots of stuff happened this week including CBN tantrums and Taliban troubles.

Here are your headlines for the week:

Taliban Takes Over Afghanistan:

The Taliban have seized power in Afghanistan and have taken control of the entire country. This was following the fall of Kabul the capital of Afghanistan on the 15th of August. Citizens of Afghanistan have since then been trying to flee the country, while the Taliban are setting the stage for their administration.

Emefiele Strikes Again:

The Central Bank of Nigeria under the administration of its main man and top striker, Godwin Emefiele recently announced that it has been allowed by the Federal High Court in Abuja to freeze the accounts of some startups in Nigeria. The target startups are companies that offer ”fx transactions” and the list includes Risevest, Chaka, Bamboo, and Trove. Their accounts will be frozen for at least 180 days according to the announcement.

There’s A Food Fest On Twitter:

The meme culture has been around for a while now and it appears to be here to stay. This can be seen in how it keeps evolving and staying relevant in our everyday conversation. The popular meme that dominated Twitter NG this last week is the ”E file ejeko cook” meme. It is mostly used to encourage someone to make their point whether right or wrong.

BBN Samson and Delilah:

It is no news that Big Brother. Naija is one of the most talked-about events in Nigeria. This year’s participants served us content on Wednesday night when Saskay directly or indirectly inspired Cross another housemate to chop his dreads. So many fans came online to express their displeasure at this but it is what it is.

Following his groundbreaking success in an initial ticket sale, Wizkid announces a second date for his o2 Arena performance. This is a part of his MIL tour and it is slated for the 29th of December. This year Wizkid joined a list of artists that sold out the 20,000 capacity under twelve minutes and is set to do it again. Maybe.
