A , Nigerian in his twenties, discusses mental health , his expectations from life and managing his life in this interview with Mofiyinfoluwa, in house contributor at Safespace.
We had the privilege to speak with A, about managing his life, mental-health and expectations from life. And he has a much laid back approach to life. He doesn’t believe that any day is entirely good or bad. He speaks about his passion for The Law, and how he is doing something else on the side, to meet his needs. A, is not a stranger to the term mental health and he gives us an insight into his work-life balance. A, is not a person of many words, but this is what they had to say:
“I am a graphic designer, although I have a Law degree from a supposed prestigious university. I understand the concept of mental health and yes, I believe that my mental health is optimal.
How I keep it that way, I smoke weed, hangout with my friends and family. Those are the steps I take, to keep my mental health optimal. Honestly, if peradventure, my mental health gets strained, I will go out more, try to surround myself with good vibes, to help myself. I strongly believe that my mental health will improve a lot if I do these things. Although I have never had a mental breakdown, or a “just leave me let me die” moment.
Life generally is unpredictable. I’ve gotten good news, even during my bad days. So, no day is all good or all bad. So far, being a graphic designer has been good, I can only be grateful, especially considering the fact that I just started. There are times when I make certain minor mistakes based on my inexperience, but I’m a firm believer that, with time and hard work, I will perfect my skills.
I honestly do not love what I do, I do it, purely for survival, because Law is the one thing that I’ve got passion for. And if given the opportunity, I would do things differently, so that I can achieve totally results, but it is what it is.
